Yes. On October 15, 2026 the Open Source Token Index settled at $0.100 per million tokens and the Closed Source Token Index at $0.626, so closed-source tokens cost 6.2× open-source.
Which labs are in each class?
Closed source: Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. Open source: DeepSeek, MiniMax, Xiaomi, Qwen, Moonshot AI, Z.ai, Mistral AI and Meta Llama. Open-weight models released by a closed lab, such as gpt-oss and Gemma, are excluded.
How are the open and closed token indexes calculated?
Each class index is its labs' settled OTPI, each weighted by the tokens it priced that day. A lab's OTPI is a volume-weighted blend of posted per-token prices across its paid production models. If a lab in a class reports no volume on a day it normally does, that day is left out rather than priced from the labs left; the closed index is published only on days all three closed labs priced.

Yes. The trailing three months of both indexes are on this page and served by the Ornn Data API with no key required. Full history requires a Premium or Full subscription.
